The masses reportedly attacked a Hindu temple and damaged several houses belonging to the Hindu community in the Narail Bangladesh District. Violence in Dighalia Upazila occurred on Friday night through a Facebook post of young Hindu boys, local media reported.
Dhaka Tribune reported that the masses had grocery stores and several Hindu community houses.Angry villagers accuse that the boy injured their religious sentiment with his social media post.The report shows that the tension installed on the post after Friday prayers on Friday, a group of Muslims demonstrated outside their homes in the afternoon. The masses also entered the Sahapara temple and broke furniture inside and damaged several stores.Inspector of Lohagarh Police Station Naran Chandra Pal said the incident had caused extreme tension in the area. The police had to fire warning shots to disperse the masses, said Police Inspector Haran Chandra Paul.
Police Inspector Narail Prabir Kumar Roy said law enforcers work to keep the situation under control.”We are investigating the incident. Those who are responsible for violence will face actions. The situation is normal for now,” he said.The attack on the religious minority in the majority of Bangladesh Muslims is increasingly happening, and many of them occur after rumors or fake posts that are spread through social media.
According to a report by the legal rights group Ain O Salish Kendra, 3,679 attacks were carried out on the Hindu community in Bangladesh between January 2013 and September 2021.
