I: US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wallymo on Wednesday said “there is no evidence” Indian company that avoids sanctions imposed on Russia after the Ukraine invasion. “I do not see evidence of Indian companies that avoid sanctions that have been placed in Russia,” Adeyemo told reporters during a visit to IIT-Bombay here.
He added that companies around the world, including those in India, the US and Europe, seriously took sanctions and implemented them. The statement came a few days after the report quoted RBI Deputy Governor Michael Patra said that the US was concerned about India which was used to export fuel made of Russian crude oil that violated the sanctions worn by Washington.
According to Patra, Russian crude oil transfers occur in the high seas and ships come to the port in Gujarat, where oil is perfected and sent. Adeyemo, who began a three -day visit on Wednesday, said he would discuss Russia and Ukraine, along with bilateral topics in his parley with Indian officials.
He, however, refused to describe the exact contours of the discussion he was going to do. Adeyemo also said that the US sanctions coalition had been widespread and the same final destination was to reduce the income earned by Russia through oil exports while ensuring that there was a stable energy supply.
“We must see the Russian invasion beyond direct concerns about the compromised sovereignty of Ukraine,” he said, referring to the consequences of the war economy, especially inflation. He said Indian consumers pay more for energy than they should.
Adeyemo is scheduled to visit New Delhi also after spending two days in the financial capital.Ahead of his visit, the US Department of Finance said that they would focus on discussing “Main priority together such as strengthening energy security, overcoming global food vulnerability and fighting forbidden financial schools”.
