A demonstration was held here in the capital of Sri Lanka on Thursday the proposed wind factory project to be carried out by the Adani India group in Northeast of Mannar.The protesters from Gotagogama (Gotabaya President returned) gathered in the busy Bambalapitiya sector in southern Colombo.
They hold a plaque that questioned the lack of transparency in giving a project to the Adani group while shouting the slogan -logan to the Indian business conglomerate.The 500 MW Wind Mill project caused many storms after the parliamentary supervision committee process last week. The statement made at the committee and action hearing was then by MMC Ferdinando, Chair of the State Power Entity to attract them to force his resignation.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa himself had to issue a counter on Ferdinando’s comments about the project. Group spokesman Adani issued a statement on Monday regarding the controversy, saying: “Our intention to invest in Sri Lanka is to meet the needs of valuable neighbors. As a responsible company, we see this as an important part of the partnership that is always shared by our two countries “.
