New Delhi: From the possibility of the impact of the Russian-Ukraine War in Southeast Asia and South Asia to the statement of the Prophet Muhammad, the Foreign Minister of the Association of Member States of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Member States raised several important problems during their visit to India.
This talks occur even when leaders struggle for greater connectivity and integration with South Asia through the country. These problems were appointed at the ‘ASEAN-Indian Foreign Minister’s Meeting’ held in New Delhi Thursday to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN-Indian dialogue relationship in 2022, which was designated as the ‘ASEAN-India Friendship Year’.They were also discussed at the Delhi XII Dialogue Minister session, which was held later on.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Jaishankar and Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore.Of the 10 ASEAN member countries, Myanmar, which was governed by the Military Junta, was not invited to the meeting.
During the Indian-ASEAN special meeting, Jaisankar said that the partnership between the two is now more important than before because of the “geopolitical headwinds” from the Russian-Ukraine war, and “the effect of beats on food and energy safety and disruption in logistics and supply chains”.India fully supports strong, united, and prosperous ASEAN, whose centrality in Indo-Pacific is fully recognized,” he added.
In India-China relations, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said in Delhi’s dialogue, “It is reasonable while surveying a larger landscape that our ASEAN partners will have an interest in relations between India and China. So allow me to be clear that the development of our bond must be based on three reciprocity – mutual respect, reciprocity sensitivity, and mutuality of interest. “The state of the border will be reflected in the state of the relationship,” he added.
Meanwhile, Balakrishnan said that the world also “changed quickly” in the last few months, adding: “With that I refer to the Russian invasion to Ukraine, which in our view has reversed the system of international rules, norms, which we all depend on.”The Minister of Singapore also said that the sharpening of the competition of the superpower between the US and China has “direct implications for all of us in Asia”.
“This development, if not controlled, can threaten the entire peace and stability system in which we depend on our growth and development and prosperity for decades,” he added.Foreign ministers who visited also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval Thursday.
