Gaurav Gupta, a co-founder and head of supply of online food delivery begin Zomato, has quit the corporate that made a public offering in July, CEO Deepinder Goyal confirmed during a blog post.
“I am taking a replacement turn in my life and can be starting a replacement chapter, taking tons from this defining chapter of my life – the last 6 years at Zomato. we’ve an excellent team now to require Zomato forward and it’s time on behalf of me to require an alternate path in my journey. i’m very emotional as I write this and don’t think any words can do justice to how i’m feeling immediately ,” Gupta said during a company-wide email he sent earlier today.
In response to the communique, Goyal responded with: “Thank you GG for everything you’ve got helped Zomato achieve over the previous couple of years. we’ve seen Zomato through great also as terrible times together, and brought it here today. There’s such a lot of our journey still before us, and that i am thankful that you simply are hanging your boots at some extent where we’ve an excellent team and leadership to hold us forward. Zomato’s Pankaj Chaddah, who co-founded the corporate along side Goyal as Foodiebay in 2008, had resigned in 2018.
Gupta was the chief operating officer in 2019 when Zomato named his as a co-founder; he was the company’s pointsperson for interactions about its Rs 9375 crore IPO listing He joined the corporate in 2015 as Business Head, Table Reservations, and also held the position of worldwide Advertising Sales Head and President, Large Enterprise Accounts before being named chief operating officer in 2018.
Gupta, an Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management graduate, worked at AT Kearney before joining Zomato His departure comes at a time when Zomato is shuttering its businesses in grocery delivery and dietary supplements business.
Gupta was the primary to be elevated to co-founder under the “Zomato Founder Program,” which rewards “people who have contributed to Zomato deeply; have built/scaled businesses, and have consistently demonstrated a founder’s mindset for an inexpensive period of your time , are acknowledged for his or her passion, commitment and perseverance”.
The Gurugram-based firm said last week it’ll pack up its grocery delivery service, which began as a pilot program in July, thanks to gaps so as fulfilment and therefore the traction 15-minute grocery delivery has been getting into the recent past The company will discontinue its grocery delivery pilot on Citizenship Day . Reports said Zomato is shutting down its dietary supplements business, which Goyal announced in March this year.
